Lesson 2
Urban Nature
Project Description: The lessons goal is to explore how nature is tainted by urban growth. The student will learn about urban street artists that have left their marks on public and owned buildings. Street art did not just start with Bansky, Keith Haring is art historically known to have started the trend of street art.
Discussion Questions:
Activity 1: You are an agent that works with underground artists. Your goal is to leave you mark on public property that can be removed. A sign will do!
Activity 2: Create a sign that notifies fellow members that you have claimed a landscape as your own. It is your turn to create your own signature. Design a symbol or structure to function as your sign. Draw and construct the piece. Your sign my be environmentally friendly. Your sign must be able to be removed from it's location without harming the natural landscape. Your sign may include text.
Activity 3: Now you must install your sign. You must also document where you have stationed your sign. Take photographs to prove your street credit to fellow members (Students). Develope your image and share with others. This photograph will function as your proof.
Activity 4: Discuss and describe the artists that influenced your creation in your journal/sketchbook. Include some artists (4) and a list (8) of their works that inspired you. (4 artists and 8 works)
