Activity 1: David Halberstam's The Fifties, "The Fear and the Dream" (1997).
Activity 2: Compose a response. What were the 50’s like? Provide three examples. What was the American dream? Can you, personally, achieve the American dream? Post response to your blog. Include advertisements curated from an image search. Think about what the advertisements are selling. Use

Activity 3: Review works and illustrations by Norman Rockwell. Investigate the works of Jasper Johns. Select two works from each artist. Provide the title, year, and material that the work was created in. Attach images to your blog, do not forget the hashtag identifying the artists and paintings. Write about the works and answer some of the following questions.
Activity 4: Recreate a scene from a Norman Rockwell piece. Stage your own scene. Photograph or sketch a moment that reflects the American Dream found in Rockwell's works. Post in your blog about where and how you recreated the Rockwell moment. Do you find your piece to be a modern version of Rockwell’s representation of the American dream? Do the values from the past hold true to the present? How has technology changed the Rockwell moment?
