Consuming Nature
Grades 9-12
This unit explores the relationships that are established between humans and nature through technology and research, art history, studio art, and popular culture. It is important to introduce students to the idea of how nature and human influences are interlocking. This unit aids the student to make connections, experience alternative art making processes, and to study art history topics pertaining to nature. By researching contemporary and modern artists, students will build a foundation to branch out on their own making personal connections with nature. We must keep in mind that we are dependent upon the land and our relationship with nature can be reflected in our art.
